My first Corset

So I started a project a lot of months ago that i finally finished today! My first corset.  I found a few websites that helped me write my own pattern.. basically you take all of your measurements draw a box, divide it into 6 columns, figure out how many inches of reduction you want in your waist, divide that by 6 and subtract that from each column measurement....Your not really supposed to understand how that works because i suck at explaining but if anyone has questions feel free to contact me.

Anyway heres the procces...

I found it was easiest to open a paper bag to draw the pattern on, cut them out and then trace them onto fabric.

Then i cut out each panel and sew them together. ( Do this twice )

When you get ready to sew them all together line them up with the numbers like this

1 2 3  4 5 6 6 5 4 3 2 1

I sewed 2 of the same and then it was bad. Anyway Im missing pictures for the next few steps. So heres the outcome.

If any of you have ever tried to put a corset on yourself you will know how hard it is.... and in doing so i realized it can be worn 2 ways.

or......

So which way is better?

Best dating advice I ever got

So i was thinking today about how my boyfriend and i got together and i remember it was because of his  relentless nature and how cute that actually is.  So heres the story....

About 4 years ago I was dating another guy somewhere around my 2nd year in college, Anthony, who I had known for years asked me out on a date to which i replied "sorry, I have a boyfriend" and he said " Ok, well promise me that if you and he ever brake up you'll go on a date with me." I said yes hoping after that he would leave me alone. He did. about a year later the guy I had been dating and I broke up. Within a few weeks Anthony contacted me and reminded me of the promise I had made the year before. I didn't say no but I sure didn't make it easy.... While I was trying to decide if I wanted to keep my promise I was talking to a good friend of mine, miss Ally Jane. She gave me the best dating advice I have ever gotten from anyone, and its so basic but she told me

"Never turn down a date. You never know what can happen. Either you will have a terrible date, and a great story to tell, a free meal, or you may meet the love of your life"

Agreeing with her, but not thinking much about it i went back to my dorm room and sent Anthony a txt saying I would go out with him.

We went out on our first date a few weeks later and as a result... I had a great time, I got a free meal, and I met the love of my life. Anthony and I have been together for almost 2 years now, we now live together, we have a doggie and were very happy. So that is the advice I would pass along to anyone as far as dating goes!

Halloween Cupcakes!

Like i said... I'm spending a lot of time by myself so here is what i made today!
                                                           Halloween cupcakes!!

So The ingredients i used were

duncan hines cake mix
duncan hines milk chocolate
milano cookies
oreos
blue writing gel

First make your cake mix and bake your cupcakes however you want. I like to use the renyolds baking cups because its just easier.
While they are cooking, take your oreos, separate them from the filling and crush the cookies up until you have a 'dirt' pile
you can also cut the milano cookies in half and write RIP on them while the cupcakes are baking.
When the cupcakes are finished, ice them and sprinkle the oreo dirt on top.

Then, just put the 'tombstones' on top! and your done with your sweet graveyard.

Stuffed Mushrooms Recipe

Thanks to my new found days off, the next few posts will probably be food related. Also, im thinking about making a recipe tab on my blog... thoughts? anyway, today i decided to make stuffed mushrooms. My plan was to have them all ready for my lovely boyfriend when he got home from work. However that didn't work out so well. He walked in as i was just starting... but thank God he did. He saw the recipe i was following and he almost died so he helped me make them the best way he knew how, the Italian way. So anyway here it goes...

Ingredients:
1 pack of baby portobello mushrooms
2 cloves of garlic
1 yellow onion
2 tbs butter
1/2-1 cup bread crumbs
salt
pepper
oliv oil
vegetable oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

1. First Take your mushrooms and pick out the stems. Be sure to get all the stem down in the mushroom to allow for more room inside for stuffing and also more stuffing itself!

2. chop the stems ups into little cubes. Not too small because they shrink a lot when you cook them. Also chop 1/4th of a medium onion and about 2 cloves of garlic

3. put 1-2 tbs of vegetable oil in  a pan and start to saute the mushroom stems. cook them on high until they start to get some color and most of the moisture comes out of the stems.

4. add the garlic and onions to your mixture along with 2-3 tbs of butter. Allow it to cook until the onions are cooked and have a little bit of color to them.

5. add bread crumbs to your mix a little bit at a time. mix in more as needed slowly to create a texture that allows your mix to stick together. When its ready just set it aside

Now heres a step i didn't know and that you will not find on recipes online

6.  sprinkle a generous amount of salt and pepper inside of each of the mushrooms you are going to stuff. after that put 4-5 drops of olive oil in each. This allows the flavor from your stuffing to cook into the mushrooms instead of the stuffing cooking on top of the mushrooms.
7. Then take a spoon and stuff the mushrooms with your stuffing.
8. Then put them in the oven! mine were in for about  15-20 min, but you'll know they're done with the mushrooms are a little squishy.

Owl Necklace

Last year I was at a friends house after a fantastic tubing trip and i found these half walnut shells in his front lawn. Immediately i thought they looked like little owl faces so i had this idea for the last year and i finally just had time to actually do it! I finally painted little faces on them and attached them to a chain. Heres how they came out!

Chalkboard paint.

Something thats become pretty popular this year is Chalkboard Paint! Its a genius idea for families with children to avoid paint, markers, crayons and other things on the wall. Now kids can draw all over the walls and its no big deal.

Some people also choose to paint just a portion of the wall or house.

I fell in love with this as soon as I saw this, but unfortunately i live in an apartment with little landladies that wont let me paint the walls black.. so as an alternative i went to my local hardware store and bought a can of Chalkboard spray paint and started looking for other things to spray paint.

So I came across some mason jars and some old vodka bottles to spray and i think it came out really well

What do you think??
What are some other things i could spray paint?

Our new puppy!

We got a new puppy this week! Well not really a puppy, she's 8. She is a Norwegian Elkhound.  We saw her in an add in a paper, 'free to good home'  so we went over to her house and instantly she fell in love with Anthony.  She climbed right into his lap and did not move until we took her to her new home with us.

So before we met her and knew what her name was, we were thinking of what to name her and we though of Bjorn because its a Norwegian name however when we looked up her breed we found that Norwegian Elkhound literally translated to " Norwegian Moose Dog"
We wanted to call her moose dog, but since she's had her name for 8 years we figured to stick with it

                                                                    This is Jasmine!

So far, she loves a stuffed monkey. Well really she just likes to chew it apart. She does not like cats andddd she does silly things in her sleep. She barks and whines in her sleep like a normal dog i guess but she also likes to lay on the back with her leg in the air and lick the carpet.
